VRU adopted the National Environmental Policy Strategy |
It is a great pleasure to note that a number of Project proposals and recommendations have been taken into account and, often, taken as a basis in the Ukraine`s law-making process.
One of the most recent illustrations of this statement is the adoption of the National Environmental Policy Strategy of Ukraine till 2020 by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Reg. No. 705), on 21 December 2010. The document analyses the use and protection of the natural resources in Ukraine; sets the aim and the principles of the national environmental policy, strategic goals and tasks, tools and stages of the national environmental policy implementation, and expected results. As the Strategy stipulates, the purpose of the national environmental policy is preservation and renewal of the ecosystem in Ukraine for harmonious co-existence of organic and inorganic nature, balanced use of the natural resources, renewal of the resources and social development, support of the environmentally-safe conditions for the public health.

It is worth mentioning that earlier UEPLAC undertook a whole spectrum of activities in this regard. Upon elaboration of the Strategy independent version within the previous phase, UEPLAC V experts followed-up their assistance with working out the necessary legal and implementing measures.
Particularly, in December 2010, the consecutive UEPLAC workshop, co-organised with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources of Ukraine and the Swedish EPA, took place. The event was aimed at further elaboration of the Action Plan to the Ukraine’s Environmental Strategy.
