UEPLAC organised a study visit to Latvia for the VRU Secretaria |
UEPLAC organised a study visit to Latvia, on 13-17 December 2009, for the VRU Secretariat staff, namely for the representatives of the VRU European Integration Committee and the VRU Department of Relations with Committees.
The Ukrainian civil servants were greeted warmly by their colleagues from the Saeima European Affairs Committee, ready to share Latvia’s European integration experience by establishing peer-to-peer contacts. Participants studied in detail about the role of the Saeima European Affairs Committee in preparations for EU membership, the instruments for EU integration and law harmonisation applied, as well as about involvement of Latvian citizens and the Saeima Information Centre activities during the pre-accession period.
The Ukrainians also highly appreciated a number of other meetings, held with the leadership of Latvia’s main institutional structures involved in the EU integration policy: with the MFA, the Ministry of Justice and the former European Integration Bureau representatives.
